Job Description

Alexander Daniels are currently recruiting for a highly skilled and motivated Financial Accountant to join our dynamic client based in Dudley on a full-time, permanent basis. As a Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for the trading subsidiaries. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly financial accounts packs for each trading subsidiary, comprising profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Take ownership of all financial figures within your assigned portfolio of subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Review the work of the Accountants and transactional teams, investigating any anomalies that arise.
  • Generate variance reports with detailed commentary, oversee capital expenditure reporting, and conduct bad debt reviews.
  • Assist the Group Financial Accountant in preparing month-end management reports for review by the UK and Group Finance Directors.
  • Monitor Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) ledgers, ensuring effective administration and timely processing.
  • Be responsible for loading accounts data into the system and conducting reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
  • Complete monthly VAT returns and produce cash forecasts.
  • Prepare quarterly bank reports and ensuring compliance.
  • Develop budgets and produce forecasts.
  • Prepare year-end financial statements in line with FRS 102.
  • Create year-end audit packs and collaborate with external auditors during the audit process.
  • Generate tax packs and liaise with tax advisors on tax-related matters.
  • Review annual tax computations and prepare iXBRL accounts for HMRC submission.
  • Collaborate with tax advisors to ensure timely and effective responses to HMRC enquiries.
  • Assist in the management of treasury, including foreign accounts.
  • Provide support to the FP&A team as required.
  • Undertake any ad hoc analysis or projects as needed.

The ideal candidate will be a newly-qualified Accountant (maximum 1 or 2 exams left to take) with proven experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role and solid knowledge of financial accounting principles, standards, and regulations (IFRS, FRS). You must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
