Job Description

Alexander Daniels have been engaged by a leading financial services organisation based in Wolverhampton. Our client is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team in a varied and challenging role. Reporting into the head if Financial Reporting you will get involved with month end activity including EIR reconciliations, securitisation accounting, and share based payments as well as dealing with audit queries and other ad hoc requests.

In this role, the Financial Accountant will have the opportunity to deliver high-quality financial reporting and the daily execution of a varied range of core accounting processes, ensuring the compliance with the Group’s policies and control framework.

The Financial Accountants responsibilities will include:

  • Key involvement in the execution of accurate and timely completion of the Group’s month end reporting process.
  • Processing of accounting journals across a diverse range of commercial activities within a multi-company group structure and prioritising own responsibilities to deliver excellent financial support to the business.
  • Involvement in the preparation of the monthly Securitisation accounting, setting up accounting entries for new securitisations and performing month end reconciliations and assist in preparing the monthly Interest Payment Date accounting entries mid-month.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Segment’s lease accounting journals, developing knowledge of IFRS 16.
  • Involved in the accounting for share based payments across the Group.
  • Contribution to the monthly analytical reviews & month on month trends.
  • Completion of balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline to the Group’s deadline.
  • Ensure the Group’s reconciliations are prepared in accordance with the Group’s policy, assisting with monthly sample-based testing and semi-annual deep dive reviews.
  • Assist in managing the unreconciled differences, helping to resolve these in a timely manner.
  • Support the Group’s external audit, developing relationships with the Group’s External Auditor and involvement in audit deliverables in-line with agreed deadlines.
  • Playing a pivotal role in system improvement initiatives and process improvements, driving efficiency and best practise across the Group’s financial control team.

We are looking for a talented Financial Accountant who has the experience and knowledge set out below:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified with post qualification experience in an accounting role as part of a financial accounting team is essential
  • Previous experience of working in a FTSE listed Group is desirable.
  • Experience working within a Group environment with multiple business units is essential.
  • Previous experience of working within a financial service or risk-based environment is desirable.
  • Previous experience of involvement in process improvement projects and establishing good working controls is desirable.
  • Previous experience working with accounting systems is essential, experience of SUN Systems is desirable.
  • Up to date knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS is essential, with detailed knowledge of IFRS 2 and 9 an advantage.
  • Knowledge of financial control processes is essential.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems is essential.

  • Base salary dependent on experience of between £50,000 – £60,000 and a competitive benefits package including:
