Job Description

Established over 100 years ago, our client is an independent chartered accountancy practice, providing a wide range of services including Accounting, Audit, Tax & Payroll for a diverse portfolio of clients in and around Birmingham. They are currently looking for an Audit Senior to join their team due to expansion as a result of winning lots of new business.

Role: Audit Senior

Location: B15 (Flexible working arrangements available)

Salary: Up to £45K depending on experience

As an Audit Senior, you will play a vital role within the audit team, contributing to the success of the clients and helping to grow the firm. The duties will include:

  • Assisting in developing audit plans based on client needs, industry regulations and risk assessments
  • Determining audit scope and objectives
  • Leading audit teams in conducting fieldwork, including testing of financial transactions and processes
  • Reviewing workpapers prepared by junior team members
  • Ensuring compliance with auditing standards and relevant regulations
  • Preparing clear and concise audit reports detailing findings and recommendations
  • Communicating audit results to clients and senior management
  • Maintaining strong client relationships by communicating effectively and addressing concerns
  • Providing timely updates to clients on audit progress and findings
  • Identifying and assessing financial and operational risks
  • Developing strategies to mitigate identified risks
  • Staying up to date on changes in auditing standards, regulations, and industry trends and apply this knowledge to audits
  • Assessing and testing internal controls to identify weaknesses and deficiencies
  • Provide recommendations for improving internal controls and operational efficiency
  • Mentoring and supervising junior audit staff, providing guidance and feedback
  • Assisting in the professional development of team members
  • Participating in quality control reviews and contirbuting to the continuous improvement of audit methodologies
  • Maintaining comprehensive audit documentation and work papers in accordance with firm and regulatory standards
